This week, as a throwback to the speaking gig I did at Lululemon on May 12, I will be focusing on the 5 pillars needed to live healthy + happy (sign up to the Red Fairy’s weekly newsletter to view the full video of my talk). The first pillar is peace (peace within ourselves and peace with our outside world). The above quote sums up perfectly what being closer to inner peace means. It’s easier said than done of course but it is very achievable when you have the right tools.

It all starts with observing your thoughts and seeing what the nature of them is.

Are they loving and accepting or are they harsh, full of worry and fearIf you notice that most of your internal dialog is negative, you can slowly shift it.

One thought at a time, you can shift your mindset and gradually replace worry by confidence and fear with love.

It might sound like a lot of work but feel crappy requires a lot of energy too so it’s best to direct that effort towards feeling more at peace. I can attest that it’s well worth it as I used to be in constant worry and negativity in my mind.

I stayed in that mindset until it made me sick and I realized something needed to shift. It wasn’t easy and it happened gradually over time but I am so grateful it did as I’m in such a happier place today. Your outer world also influences your inner peace right now and this too can be changed.

You can’t control the external factors but you have control over how you perceive them and react to them.

Realizing this is truly life changing. Rather than getting involved in all the stress and drama, you can take a step back and consciously decide if you want to contribute to the negativity or stay away from it. All of this requires a mindset shift, a shift that begins with an awareness of what is currently there.

Observe your thoughts today and see how they make you feel.

Are you at peace or worrying most of the time? Are you constantly stuck in your head focused on worry of what could go wrong? If so, you now know there is another way.

There is another path you can walk that will bring you so much more peace.

Take that first step today by acknowledging what is there and then starting fresh if need be. I will leave you with a quote from A Course in Miracles that always inspires me to get closer to inner peace:

There is a way of living in the world that is not here, although it seems to be. You do not change appearance, though you smile more frequently. Your forehead is serene; your eyes are quiet. And the ones who walk the world as you do recognize their own. Yet those who have not yet perceived the way will recognize you also, and believe that you are like them, as you were before.
