Some people think that self care is a luxury. I used to believe that until I got sick (mentally, physically and spiritually) from neglecting myself. This was years ago and I’ve learned so much since then but I have to admit that it can still be challenging to set aside enough time for self care.

Yes, we need to be of service to others but we won’t be able to do that if we are running on empty.

Whether it’s from lack of sleep, overworking ourselves or because we have a negative self talk pattern, we can really run ourselves into the ground if we aren’t careful. This is why it’s so important to check-in on a regular basis and notice what our energy levels are like and notice if we have reserved enough “me” time.

It can be as simple as scheduling only 15 minutes a day to do something you love (like reading your favourite magazine in the tub) if you are a busy mom that must tend to a child. Or maybe it’s making sure you spend time in nature at least once a week.

The definition of self care is a very personal thing and you have to go with what makes you feel truly happy and recharged.

Go ahead, write down 3 ways that you can focus more on self care this week and how you will concretely make it happen.

Remember that as Marie Forleo says “If it’s not scheduled, it’s not real!” so you’ve got to include self care in your calendar to make sure you will have enough time it.

Wishing you a wonderful week and I would love to know what your favourite self care activities are! Mine are working out, taking a bubble bath (while I watch my favourite vlogs) and getting a mani-pedi.
