Keep choosing joy. Every minute and every moment of every day we can choose how we see life & how we react to what happens to us. When you wake up in the morning, make the conscious decision to choose happiness throughout your day. During the day, take little moments to pause and notice if you have been choosing happiness in the past couple of hours.
It can be something as simple as letting go of a perceived negative comment about you or being at peace when having to wait in line somewhere when you are in a hurry.
Every moment is an opportunity to practice happiness. If you were on the receiving end of an unpleasant comment, you can choose how long you hang on to it, how much you make it part of your thoughts and if you involve other people in this negativity.
If you are stuck waiting somewhere, you can either fester in frustration wishing the situation was different or you can use this moment to pause, take some nourishing deep breaths, reset your frame of mind and send yourself some loving thoughts.
By being more aware of our thoughts we start to see if they are bringing us closer to happiness or if they are pushing it away. There are always external circumstances that are beyond our control and yes life can deal us some difficult blows but we can use those opportunities to rise up and consciously decide to choose joy and make the best of what we have.
