Portugal here we go!

Lisbon, portugal, europe, travel

After careful consideration, Robert and I have decided that we are going to reunite in Portugal this coming Sunday. Do I need to state how excited I am? Not only will I be traveling to a European destination that has been on my wish list for a long time, but I will also be seeing my beau after us being apart for almost three months!

As I do with every trip, I love asking people what are their must-see spots in the country I will be visiting. Earlier this week, I posted that exact question on Facebook and so far, here is the list I have put together of the things and places we want to enjoy while in Portugal:

Tour of the city

fountain, lisbon, portugal, europe, travel, vacation, tourist, tourism

When I was younger, I used to laugh at people on tour buses but now I find them great! They’re the perfect way to find your feet when discovering a new city, especially if you have limited time to visit. This will probably be our first activity so we can then decide which spots we want to spend more time exploring.

Eat bacalhau

bacalhau, recipe, fish, cod, salted, jamie oliver, foodie, travel, portugal, eating,

One of our foodie friends recommended this one. Bacalhau is Portugese salted codfish. I’ve heard that the food in Portugal is amazing, especially the fresh fish so I think this healthy foodie will be in heaven.

Natas

natas, dessert, pastries, foodie, eating, portugal, lisbon, travel

As much as I am a healthy eater, I also looooove quality desserts. When I’m in Europe, I put aside my gluten free diet from time to time and fully enjoy some freshly made pastries.

Sintra

pena, palace, sintra, portugal, travel, europe, vacation, tours, tourism,

Several people have said that Sintra is a must-see and I can already understand why just from the photos I’ve found on Pinterest. This place looks so wonderful and magical. Can’t wait!

Algarve

algarve, beach, vacation, portugal, europe, travel

Algarve is about 275 km from Lisbon and the beaches are apparently gorgeous so I would love to spend a day there.  Going to have to convince the BF it’s worth the trek… ;)

Cascais

cascais, portugal, travel, vacation, europe, lisbon, beach, resort

Another waterfront spot I want to discover is Cascais, a beautiful resort destination frequented by celebrities and European royalty. Gotta have some glam moments on our vacay!

Just chill out

living room, apartment, air bnb, lisbon, portugal, travel, tourism, europe

After being apart for 3 months, we will be needing some major cuddling time so staying at home one evening to just relax, read and BE is going to be as important as running around like crazy tourists. This is a pic of the airbnb apartment we will be living in. If you are curious, you can view all pictures here. It even has a piano!

I’m sure I will be adding lots to this list so if you have any other recos of what we should visit in Lisbon, I would love to hear them! Please share them in the comment section below. And of course, I will be posting all about my travel adventures In Portugal so make sure you sign up for the weekly Red Fairy newsletter so you don’t miss a beat. ;)

    Hi Genevieve
Here’s a restaurant and view point for you….
The Decadente Restaurant and Bar in Bario Alto area has great food at very reasonable price. It’s just opposite one of Lisboa view points (I think there are 5 or so on hill tops around the city). You can see beautiful traditional architecture if you walk through the Bario Alto Streets on your way there. One of my favourite places…..
Try to sit outside on the terrace at the back.
    Enjoy xxx
    Sis x
