Ever get discouraged because you can’t reach your health goals? You might be setting the bar too high… I’m a big believer in baby steps and starting small to gently move towards your goals. When you aim super high from the start it sets unrealistic expectations and when you don’t meet those expectations you get disappointed in yourself and might give up.

You need to accumulate small victories in order to build confidence. These small victories will occur if you are consistent with your efforts. And you become consistent when you take small actions and are successful at them.

Keep in mind that sometimes “success” might mean just showing up (to your workout session, that meditation practice or anything else). There is power in just being in the arena and giving it our best shot even though we might not feel like superstars on that particular day.

My successful approach has been to aim a little lower but with consistent actions and results. Each step I take gives me the confidence to take a bigger step to eventually reach my goal (be it meditating, working out, healthy eating, etc).
