Screw perfect. It doesn’t exist anyways. Striving to be perfect is a waste of time and energy and perfectionism often keeps us from trying to things which could bring us great joy. I know that’s been my case for several years and I didn’t even notice I was doing it until quite recently.
A couple of years ago, someone came into my life. A woman that focuses on always moving forward rather than being perfect. I’ve seen her take courageous actions that at the time I wasn’t brave enough to take because I was afraid of rejection and failure.
Seeing her not care about being mediocre actually inspired me to take action.
It made me realize that it’s so much more important to get started, to at least try rather than staying stuck in inaction because you are afraid to fail.
Once you start realize how amazing it feels to believe in yourself but also give yourself permission to suck at something at the beginning, it’s so liberating. We must realize that not being great at something new is not only perfectly normal but it doesn’t make us any less worthy.
Rather than striving for perfection now I strive for greatness.
I give myself permission to try and fail because I deserve the opportunity to live life to the fullest. So do you. Wishing you a fabulous Monday where you kick perfectionism to the curb and just give it your best shot!
