What’s the single MOST important thing that’s kept me fit for decades now? It’s not discipline, it’s CONSISTENCY. And how do I stay consistent? By having quick workouts I can squeeze in even when I’m short on time (or motivation). Yes, the ideal scenario is having a good 30 minutes to get some movement in but we have to be realistic as well and some days it’s all about the express workout. I always say:
Something is better than nothing.
I also deeply believe that working out is as much for our mental health as it is for our physical health so even if I just exercise for 10-15 minutes, I feel way better (body, mind and soul) than if I had skipped the workout entirely.
The actual type of daily movement I do varies depending on my mood but it usually includes a short walk + some other form of exercise such as pilates, yoga, weight training, cycling and even paddle boarding in the summer (a fave). Here are a few examples of FREE short workouts I come back to often to stay consistent and fit.
I’m into short Sami Clark FORM fitness routines on You Tube. These two are favourites:
15 minutes toned arms workout
8 minute ab workout (no equipment)
I also love combining a few super short Melissa Wood Health workouts like these:
5 min ab exercices to do with a workout ball
5 minutes inner/outer thigh workout
Top 5 moves to sculpt abs
5 min arm workout with a 1 pound weight
Of course, there are also great fitness apps available that cost less than a montly subscription at the gym such as the Melissa Wood Health app (I’ve been a member for years and still love it):
I haven’t tried the FORM app by Sami Clark but it’s probably quite good as well:
And finally, I can’t not give a huge shoutout to Tone it up workouts which I did for several years (the app and free videos on You Tube) and still go back to from time to time. This one is my favourite booty workout:
8 minute superset butt workout
