Let me start by stating that I understand that talking about a ritual to do on the full moon might seem a little heady but stick with me. I’ve always been quite a rational gal and I also love adopting practices that help release stress, residual anger and anything negative.

Even if you don’t believe in the effects of the full moon, this exercise can still be very powerful because it’s all about taking concrete action to release all that doesn’t serve you. I’ll let you watch the explanatory video from my girls at Twin Tree Healing before going any further.

Still with me? Good. So as you saw in the video, the girls talk about the full moon but also the new moon which was something I had never heard about prior to watching this. Since tonight is the full moon, we can focus on that for this post but by all means, please go ahead and try the ritual for the new moon as well when it comes along (next one May 17).

I do both each month (have a reminder in my iCal) and I find it to be a great practice to set clear intentions either for welcoming in what I want or releasing what I don’t want. Since I started this ritual about 2 years ago and was living in a condo in Old Montreal, I didn’t do the burning of the list (didn’t want to set the place on fire). I simply wrote all that I wanted to release on small pieces of paper, put them in a mason jar filled with water and put it in the freezer.

I have to admit, I still feel a bit silly when I do it but I figure, it can’t hurt and I do truly believe in the psychological value of writing our intentions down on paper. If you feel like giving it a go, here is an Easter Standard Time full moon calendar for 2015 (update: download 2016 calendar). Of course, there are a lot of various ways to solidify what we want and what we don’t want and I strongly encourage trying different methods to find what works for you. I practice a variety of exercises because I am passionate about personal growth and spirituality but start with just one new ritual and see how it feels.

Wishing you a powerful full moon evening and may the intentions you set bring you more peace and happiness.  xoxo
