When I think about what is truly important to me, one answer keeps coming back: making a difference. That is my WHY (why I get out of bed and what motivates me) and it can be easy to forget when I get caught up in the daily grind tackling that long to-do list. One practice I’ve started in order to stay on the road of happiness is to make sure I come back to my WHY on a regular basis (every couple of weeks). I sit down and write what is important to me, what my priorities are and what makes me happy. It’s the best way to get off automatic pilot and recenter my focus on what matters. The reason I am sharing this is because I’d like to invite you to think about your WHY (do you know what it is?) and determine if the actions you take in your daily routine are bringing you closer to it or not. Also, I know I am not alone in wanting to make the world a better place and help others so I thought I would share the 3 causes that I have contributed to financially this month and if you’d like, you can make a donation as well. Even if it’s not a big amount, it still helps. :)
I found out about the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation’s #10hours campaign via two of my favourite fashion bloggers, Sara Donaldson of Harper and Harley and Amanda Shadforth of Oracle Fox. One woman dies every 10 hours from ovarian cancer so this is a major battle and one that is close to my heart because of someone dear to me… If you would like to help too, you can donate here.
Back in Australia and back just in time to help spread the word of the @ocrf latest #10hours campaign. It’s hard to believe, but every #10hours one Australian woman dies from ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer currently has no early detection test, which is why it’s so important for the @ocrf to raise funds and donations for research into this disease. Join the fight by donating at www.ocrf.com.au/donate Please tag your friends and help spread the #10hours message xx
I’m proud to be part of the #10hours project, joining in the fight against Ovarian Cancer. You can jump on board too if you feel you’d like to help make a difference @ocrf .. www.orcf.com.au/donate xx A photo posted by Amanda Shadforth (@oraclefoxblog) on
Every Mother Counts
My ex boss and life mentor Manon Leduc is running in the 2015 Montreal Marathon with team Every Mother Counts and of course, as soon as I read her email asking for support, I wanted to help. EMC was founded by Christy Turlington Burns and is a non-profit organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother globally. It is a great organization that is making a meaningful impact and 100% of your donation will go directly to the Every Mother Counts portfolio of programs around the world. If you too would like to help, you can donate here.
The Gentle Barn
If you follow me on Instagram, you know what an animal lover I am, so it’s no surprise that I follow a few organizations such as The Gentle Barn that are helping our furry friends. The Gentle Barn is an amazing sanctuary where abused and neglected animals get a second chance at life. If you too would like to help, you can donate here.
Ellen Degeneres is a huge supporter of The Gentle Barn and featured a visit to the barn on her show.
