Is there anything more comforting than a hot drink on a cold winter day? Sipping on a delicious tea is a great way to take a break during a crazy day at work or to unwind when you get home. Tea is also a lovely gift to offer during the holiday season. Of all the teas on the market, David’s Tea is one of my favourites. Why? First, they are a Canadian company, second because their teas taste amazing and third, I love the story behind the brand:
David Segal was a 28-year-old tea loving entrepreneur. His cousin Herschel Segal was a Canadian retail pioneer. What did they have in common? A vision: great tea, a friendly environment and a colourful, modern store. It seemed like a simple idea, but they couldn’t find anyone else that was doing it. So they decided to take matters into their own hands. With David’s energy and enthusiasm and Herschel’s know-how, it was the perfect balance of youth and experience.
Walk into a David’s Tea today and you can choose from over 150 types of tea, including exclusive blends, limited edition seasonal collections, traditional straight teas and exotic infusions from around the globe. Not to mention the largest collection of organic teas and infusions in North America. Because there is such a vast selection, lets narrow it down to my four favourites:
FOREVER NUTS (caffeine free! = I’m sold)
I love the name, the smell and the yummy taste of this tea so much! It’s my ultimate favourite. Made with apple, almonds, cinnamon and beetroot it’s deliciously nutty and decidedly addictive.
BUDDHA’S BLEND (medium caffeine)
A zen melange of white tea, green tea, jasmine pearls and white hibiscus blossoms. This is my second favourite. Every time I open the container to make this tea, a smile magically appears on my face. It just puts me in the best of moods!
LONG LIFE OOLONG (low caffeine)
Peach-scented oolong has long been popular in China – possibly because, in ancient legends, magical peaches were consumed by the gods to achieve immortality. This tea is made of organic Shui Xian oolong tea, peach pieces, apricot pieces, almond slices, orange peel, safflower petals, natural and artificial flavouring. Remember my trick on how to satisfy a sugar craving without indulging in a high calorie binge? Well I do the same with tea and the long life oolong is perfect for that. It’s a sweet treat that won’t leave you feeling guilty or unhealthy.
ORGANIC DETOX (low caffeine)
This organic tea is a tasty blend of traditional ingredients, like rooibos, sencha, ginger, ginkgo, lemongrass, and juniper berries and natural lemon flavouring. I like drinking this tea after a heavy meal (so perfect after that big Christmas supper) or even the day after an evening that involved a little too much wine…
