What you are looking for is not out there… If you feel like something is missing in your life, if you ask yourself “Is this it?” it might be because you’ve been searching in the wrong placesWe often look for happiness in outside circumstances whether it’s with material things or hoping to get people’s approval and attention.

This is a sure path to emptiness and anxiety as we cannot control what goes on on the outside and things can change at a moment’s notice. If you depend on the prestige of a title at work or a big home, those can be lost or can change with time. What happens to your happiness then?

It’s not to say that we shouldn’t have goals or strive for certain pleasures from the material world but we should be somewhat detached from it and not expect it to bring true happiness. Pleasure yes (and it’s often short lived) but not happiness.

For true happiness, we must go within, learn to tap into love for ourselves and for others. We must let go of judgment and labelling and stop seeing ourselves as “better than” or “less than”. Comparison is the thief of joy.

When we start shifting our mindset and how we attribute value to our life we can find happiness in the simplest moments. Gratitude is something that comes from within and that can bring so much joy.

Learn to see the outside world for what it is (passing pleasures and dramas) and to cultivate your precious inner world. Once you start being able to experience inner peace, it will also shift the world around you.

This life can be a truly magnificent one if we know what truly matters and where to put our focus. Wishing you a wonderful day.
