When was the last time you took a chance? A chance on doing something that makes you vulnerable but that also makes your heart race? Human beings are wired to crave certainty and yet if there is one thing that is certain in life it’s that nothing is certain. Still, even though we know that deep down inside, our default setting often to opt for what seems “safe” rather than take a chance.
When we want to tap into our creativity for example, our ego might say something like “Come on, what’s the point of trying that? You probably won’t be good at it and what will people think if you aren’t?” But if we listen to that voice and stay stuck in inaction because of it, we can not only miss out on amazing opportunities, we are also denying part of who we are.
Take a chance on yourself or perhaps on someone else. Know that you are strong enough to face any outcome. Also, when you are standing in front of fear. When it’s keeping you from doing something that will allow you to grow, ask yourself “What’s the worst that could happen?” Think about what might happen if you don’t take a chance but also if you do.
We are stronger than we think and despite what fear tries to tell us, most of the risks we are scared of taking won’t actually put us in danger. Sure, the mind is sending us signals as if we were “at risk” but don’t be fooled by it. Take a small chance today. One small victory will give you the confidence to take on something a little bigger next time.
