Are you most often listening to your heart or your head and which one has served you best? One isn’t necessarily better than the other. It depends how and why you tap into them. Our head sometimes gets us into trouble because the voice inside of it wants to keep us safe. That in itself is a good thing when it comes to staying away from actual physical danger but the problem is that the mind tends to send us the same signals of fear whether we are risking our life (ex: skydiving) or taking an emotional risk (ex: making ourselves vulnerable by embarking on a project that is dear to our heart).

The mind can trick us into feeling like the fear of failure, of looking like a fool is as risky as walking down a dark alley at night. It’s when we find a balance between listening to our heart and our head that we are at our best. When we are able to listen to our heart, to who we truly are and also take into consideration how the mind is trying to guide and protect us.

The heart rarely misguides us but that our head can sometimes be filled with thoughts of worry that won’t do us much good. We must filter those thoughts and learn to not always believe the fears that they bring up. Notice today if you are constantly in your heart or your head and see if you can perhaps find a better balance.

If your heart only speaks to you in timid whispers, let it raise its voice. If your head is screaming worry thoughts or words that make you doubt yourself know that just because you think it, it doesn’t mean it’s true.

You have a great inner guidance system but you must be the one at the wheel
