Follow your heart. You know that quiet yearning that sits within you to do something different, something that makes your heart sing but that also seems scary as hell? That’s your soul (your true self) speaking to you, only the problem is that your mind is so loud it’s drowning out what your heart is trying to tell you.

For some reason, the heart often speaks in whispers while the mind screams. I believe it’s because it communicates with us in a manner that we have forgotten how to master. There is so much noise around us and within us that when the heart tries to speak, it’s either ignored or shut down because what it has to say isn’t always practical for us. In fact, it can require to step outside your comfort zone in a big way.

If something is calling you and has been for a long time, follow your heart. When your mind chimes in with all the reasons it can’t work, tell it to go take a walk. We can rebalance our inner guidance system so that we are more in tune with our heart. It’s the best GPS you will ever have.

Practices such as yoga and meditation are great pathways to be able to listen to your heart more attentively. They also give you the tools (like courage and self belief) to be able to reach for what your heart desires.

If you doubt whether you have the right or the strength to follow your heart, remember this precious mantra: everything you desire is within you. This means that you already have what it takes to live a life of fulfillment. A life where your heart is truly content. All you have to do is use the resources you already have to start that journey.
