When the world around you gets hectic and overwhelming, come back to the world within you. You can decide how you perceive and react to situations. You can decide how seriously you take life’s little dramas. The holidays are usually a busy time of year and we can be dealing with stressful factors and people but we can always access inner peace if we choose to do so.

The first step is to realize when we are getting caught up in the unfoldings of the outside world. The second step is to take a deep breath and come back to what truly matters to us and then ask ourselves if whatever is stressing us is that important in the grand scheme of our life. You might think “yes” at first, but think carefully. In fact, don’t think, feel… Feel what is dear to your heart and ask yourself if that is currently at risk. It probably isn’t.

Before trying to change outside circumstances or other people, we must clean up our side of the street as Gabrielle Bernstein says. This time of year is an excellent moment to test this practice. Notice when you are trying to control circumstances or people and start to come back to yourself before sharing a comment with someone for example.

If we are all a little more self aware during these holidays, we can make them more peaceful and flowing. Wouldn’t that be a nice gift to give yourself and others? Wishing you a wonderful day!
