Founded by Suzanne and Chase Leroux two ex-lawyers who developed a passion for alternative healing, One love Organics is a natural, ethical and environmentally driven skin care company that I recently fell in love with thanks to Monique and Saska, the lovely women behind Anise Apothecary.
I kept spotting posts on Instagram about various One Love Organics products and when I started researching online to see what people were saying about the brand, I was really impressed with the reviews and wanted to discover the line for myself. Monique was nice enough to send me 9 different products to try and now I am officially hooked. Here’s a review of each magical potion:
Soothing organic sweet pea flour and fresh pineapple enzymes polish off dead skin cells while helping to protect the new ones.
My take: Brand New Day won a Red magazine Green Beauty Award and I can understand why. It honestly does let your skin start fresh every morning. The formula is gentle enough for any skin type but effective enough you see a difference after using it. My delicate skin appreciated its softness.
FOR A SCRUB: Mix 1/2–1 teaspoon of Brand New Day with warm water to form a creamy paste. Massage onto damp face and throat using gentle, circular motions. Remove with warm water.
FOR A MASQUE: In your hand or a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of Brand New Day with 2 teaspoons of water for a luxurious, tightening masque. For an extra treat, mix with 2 teaspoons of plain Greek yogurt for a clarifying masque OR fresh, raw honey for a hydrating masque. Leave for 10-15 minutes. Remove with warm water.
Pure, cold-pressed plant oils, rich mango butter, and three super critical extracts break down dirt and makeup, cleansing your skin, without stripping its natural protective layer. You can use the very same balm for moisturizing, illuminizing, hair taming and creating your own custom treatment foundation…..a little goes a loooong way.
My take: This product is amazing. It smells divine, feels delightful on application (super nourishing) and left my skin radiant. And the multi-tasking aspect is definitely a plus for any busy woman. Even Rachel Zoe raves about this beauty balm’s benefits!
Organic fennel, a natural anti-inflammatory, helps to reduce puffiness. Pomegranate, eyebright and ginseng naturally lift and plump while providing continuous hydration throughout the day.
My take: This balm has a more discreet smell which I can appreciate given where you are applying it. I don’t like strong fragrances near my eyes. I loved the rich texture and how it quickly penetrates in the skin. It left the delicate area around my peepers looking smooth and rested.
With a unique combination of organic Chilean soap bark, cold-pressed apple oil and vegetable glycerin, Easy Does It lathers into a soothing, non-drying foam that cleans, softens and helps to protect face, body and hair.
My take: The application was very pleasant. It didn’t foam too much and I could feel a gentle cleansing effect. It has a nice subtle and natural fragrance (I’m so over strong perfumes), didn’t leave a film on my skin like some “hydrating cleansers” do but it also didn’t leave my skin tight and craving immediate moisturizing.
Raspberry leaf works to stimulate, tighten and tone. Peppermint and lemon balm deliver a refreshing zing of anti-inflammatory antioxidants to help brighten, enliven and de-puff. And vegan-sourced Omega 3 fatty acids smooth the appearance of fine lines and help shield skin from everyday environmental damage.
My take: I love, love, love this product! I’m not used to serums and when I first put some on my fingers it seemed oily but then I applied it to my skin and it just melted right in leaving my super dry chin area smooth as a baby’s bottom. I’m impressed! I even dab it on my dry lips for immediate relief. This is another One Love Organics product that Rachel Zoe deems a must.
Rich in the rare fatty acid Omega 7 and Omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acids, this serum helps to restore moisture levels and helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
My take: Once again, not used to serums but I am realizing that this is what was probably missing from my skin regimen. I’ve always wondered what would finally soothe the dry skin on my jaw line when even the most expensive creams didn’t help. This serum did the trick immediately.
This serum boasts some of Mother Earth’s most effective gifts: watermelon seed oil to smooth, dissolve build-up and provide a rich composition of essential fatty acids, Bulgarian Rose Oil to tone and moisturize, and clinically proven D’Orientine S to help protect skin from environmental sources of aging and wrinkling.
My take: Okay, so I am now officially addicted to serums. This is another little gem that made my super dry skin a thing of the past. Also, just the name “love springs eternal” is enough for me to be in love with this product. This is a great anti-aging option.
The unique, creamy formula features papain, a fruit enzyme that helps to exfoliate and soften skin, and a natural Vitamin B complex to detoxify and tone.
My take: As a cleansing oil I like it although it didn’t foam at all but I know it’s not supposed to. I think I just have the old mentality that the product needs to foam for me to feel like it’s really cleansing my skin. Kind of like what I used to think about shampoos until I found out it was nasty sulfates that create the foaming effect but they can also irritate the skin and are linked to cancer, neurotoxicity, organ toxicity and endocrine disruption (yucky!).
Ecocert-certified Alpine rose extract helps to increase skin’s resistance to environmental stressors and elemental dryness. Shiitake mushroom, a rich source of Vitamin D, soothes irritation and redness and contains antibacterial properties that keep skin clean and revitalized throughout the day.
My take: I enjoy a nice refreshing mist that I can use midday to give my face a little boost especially if I’m in the city amidst pollution that wreaks havoc on my fragile skin. This mist feels cooling and soothing all at once and it smells heavenly.
So as you can see, I am a BIG fan of One Love Organics. For me to write such a detailed and lengthy review, it’s because I want you know how amazing this line is and hopefully try it for yourself. You can discover the full range of One Love Organics on their website and find out where to purchase their products in store or online here. Plus, as you can see from the links in each product, I have a few featured in the Red Fairy shop.
The prices listed on the One Love Organics site seem to be in US dollars so if you are in Canada and want to view items in your currency, head to one of the canadian e-tailers listed here such as the fabulous Anise Apothecary (their customer service is beyond excellent).
Oh, and a final reason to choose this wonderful brand: As a mom, Suzanne is also an advocate for healthy, happy families so the company also supports non-profit organizations that help families thrive. What’s not to love about One Love Organics?!
