The first product that attracted me to the Crawford Street skin care line was their lemon deodorant cream ($14). I have tried COUNTLESS natural deodorants in the hopes of finding one that actually works and so far none have made the cut. That was, until this one!

I did three test runs with the Crawford Street deodorant before I would give it the official Red Fairy seal of approval: I wore it performing light activity (working from home), moderate activity (shopping with a heavy coat and winter boots) and high intensity activity (a zumba class). The result: it passed with flying colours! Here is why this deodorant is a winner:

It made my pits smell divine! This citrus scented deodorant cream is made with ten essential oils that are deodorizing, antibacterial and antifungal. It makes putting on a deodorant an experience rather that just another step in your morning routine.

It’s a healthy choice. There are a lot of ingredients we would never consider indigesting but somehow we don’t have the same concerns when it comes to what we put on our skin, our body’s largest organ. This deodorant doesn’t contain any aluminum or parabens so I feel good using it on a daily basis.

The sleek packaging. It might seem superficial but I like my bathroom counter to look pretty and that means that everything on it needs to be aesthetically pleasing. It’s unfortunate that a lot of the natural beauty products on the market have a “granola” style and really don’t seem to put much emphasis on packaging design. Crawford Street’s containers are simple, elegant and modern.

The price. This actually applies to the entire Crawford Street line. Yes, the deodorant might cost more than your $7 drugstore purchase but you just apply a dime sized amount every time so the 60ml jar will last you a loooong time.

Of course, it’s important to note that it is a deodorant and not an antiperspirant so don’t expect it to totally stop the sweating process. Besides, I don’t like the idea of putting gunk on my skin that blocks my pores and keeps toxins from being released. So I did sweat during my zumba class (less than if I hadn’t worn anything) but there was no B.O. to be noticed (phew!).

Moving on to the other products I tried:

skincare, exfoliant, Crawford Street, dead sea, salt, scrub, natural, beauty,

Lavender and rosemary are probably the two ingredients that are the most “therapeutic” to me. Lavender is calming and cosmetically, it appears to be a cell regenerator, it prevents scarring and stretch marks and reputedly slows the development of wrinkles (source). Rosemary is invigorating and its beauty benefits are quite impressive.

Since it contains naturally powerful antioxidants, rosemary oil strengthens the capillaries and helps to slow the effects of ageing on skin. It also tightens sagging and loose skin to help it look firmer and more elastic (source). Additionally, rosemary stimulates biological activity and cell growth to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. And last but not least, this scrub contains coconut oil (my new obsession = expect a blog post on this very soon) so it’s super hydrating for the skin. lavender-rosemary dead sea salt scrub $12

canadian, skincare, natural, beauty, cruelty free, non animal tested, crawford street, facial oil

It took me a while to jump on the face oil bandwagon. Like most people, I thought it would make my skin super shiny but it really doesn’t. It’s just super hydrating and soothing especially at this time of year where the outdoor cold and indoor heating can really wreak havoc on my skin. I also love that you only need a few drops for the entire face so a small bottle goes a long way. essential facial oil $45

My number one criteria for a hand cream is that it must be super hydrating but not greasy. This means it must penetrate the skin quickly and some natural creams fail in that department. The carefully chosen ingredients are what make all the difference in this powerful potion: calendula infused oil has been used for hundreds of years because of its amazing healing power. Sweet almond oil is know for its ability to soften and recondition the skin and nails. frankincense +myrrh hand cream $20

Crawford Street skincare LIPBALM_Naturalbeauty
I wouldn’t have thought that spearmint and vanilla were two ingredients that blend well together but they totally do! The smell is subtle but very pleasant and more importantly it feels amazing on my dry lips. It’s made with grape seed oil, shea butter, jojoba oil and beeswax and doesn’t contain any artificial flavours, scents, or colours.

I love how it’s rich but doesn’t leave a waxy film. And one final detail that I really appreciate is the unique shape of the applicator. Instead of being completely round like most lip balms it’s in an elliptical format which makes it fit more naturally between the fingers. spearmint-vanilla lip balm $5

As you can see from this detailed review there are several reasons why I am 100% behind this great Canadian brand. Crawford Street skin care really offers the full package: natural ingredients, reasonable prices, stylish packaging and most important of all, their products are pleasant to apply and yield amazing results.

  • I have been buying and using these products for years…I love them! The deodorant, the lip balm, the hand cream and the face cream are my staples…I would never switch to anything else. My only comment? I want more! How about a shampoo and a comditioner from this talented lady? That would be awesome!

    • I couldn’t agree more with you Annette. And yes!!! It would be so amazing if they made a shampoo and conditioner! Mine are almost out and I would love to switch to a more natural brand. So much love for Crawford Street and for the wonderful and talented Gaelyne.

  • I started using the lip balm and deodorant last summer. In September I added the face moisturizer my skin never feels tight or dry any more and the price is much better than any of the multitude of products at your local cosmetics counter! i love these products for all of the reasons you listed! Simplifying and purifying my life!

    • Hi Helen. Couldn’t agree more. When I put anything else on my skin other than the face oil, it just doesn’t feel as hydrated, especially during this cold winter period. And it’s so amazing that the prices are totally accessible. What would we do without Crawford Street skincare?! Thanks for taking the time to comment! ;)
