The Red Fairy’s favourite recipe books

recettes, recipe books, recipe, cookbook, recipe book, livre recettes, foodie

(français ci-dessous) With the holidays coming up, that can only mean one thing for us foodies: thinking about what we’re going to eat. Since we can fall short of recipe ideas when the pressure is on, why not start planning now? Recipe books are such a great source of inspiration and they also make the perfect present (for yourself or others). Lets start with 4 recipe books I own and love:

Vegetarian Everyday

Vegetarian Everyday , Green Kitchen Stories, food, foodie, recipes, recipe book, vegetarian recipe, vegetarian, Green Kitchen Stories

Purchase book

David Frenkiel and Luise Vindhal have some of the most beautiful food content online and in print. In addition to this book, they have two others: Green Kitchen Travels: Healthy Vegetarian Food Inspired by Our Travels and The Green Kitchen: Delicious and Healthy Vegetarian Recipes for Every Day. Here are some tried and tested Green Kitchen recipes.

Plenty by Yotam Ottolenghi

Plenty, Plenty recipes, Plenty recipe book, recipes, recipe book, cookbook, vegetarian recipes, vegetarian, healthy eating, foodie

Purchase book

Yotam makes eating a true sensory experience. As you can see by the image above, his (vegetarian) creations are a work of art as much as they are enjoyable to eat. He also published Plenty More and Ottolenghi the cookbook. One of my fave recipes: vermicelli salad with edamame, cilantro and lime.

It’s All Good by Gwyneth Paltrow

It's all good, cookbook, recipe book, gwyneth paltrow, recipes, book

Purchase book

My Father’s Daughter by Gwyneth Paltrow

My Father's daughter, recipe book, cookbook, recipes, gwyneth paltrow

Purchase book

Love her or hate her Gwyneth’s recipes are undeniably delicious. I have used her two books over and over again for breakfasts, diners, desserts and snacks and each meal was a success. Here are two simple examples: healthy salads.

Now since we are in the holiday spirit, allow me to indulge in a little wish list of my own. Here are 4 recipe books I would love to add to my cooking repertoire (hint, hint to family or friends reading this post).

Oh She Glows

Oh she glows, recipe book, recipes, vegan recipes, vegan, foodie,

Purchase book

Although I consider myself a flexitarian rather than a vegetarian or vegan, most of what I eat does not come from animal sources. Angela’s recipes rock and so I often visit the Oh she glows website for yummy meal or dessert ideas such as these vegan gluten free cake balls.

Donna Hay Life in Balance

recipe book, donna hay, recipe, recipes, healthy eating

Pre-order book

Donna Hay’s photography is the epitome of food porn. Her imagery is some of the most stunning I’ve ever seen and that is of course the most important aspect of a recipe book in my opinion. This book is actually on pre-sale for us Canadians (available in October 2016!) but if you ever go to the land down under it’s already in store.

Against All Grain

Against all grain, danielle Walker, recipe, recipes, cookbook, gluten free, dairy free, paleo

Purchase book

When I see “gluten free” and “dairy free” I am immediately interested. Although I don’t have an official intolerance or allergy to gluten or dairy, they are known to have an inflammatory effect and cause unpleasant “reactions” for many people. If you are in a similar situation to mine, you will love the Against all grain site, an excellent source for tummy friendly recipes.

I Quit Sugar

I quit sugar, IQS, sarah wilson, recipe, sugar free, recipe book

Purchase book

They say sugar is worst than crack so in my book that means I should avoid it as much as possible. I am a big dessert lover but one of my goals has been to try new recipes containing no or as little sugar as possible and I am sure this book would help greatly. Until I get my hands on it, Sarah’s site has a ton of recipe ideas for those wanting to live a crack free life. ;)

If after going through all these delightful suggestions, you are in need of a major food fix, check out the Red Fairy’s favourite recipes! I would also love to know which are your favourite recipe books. Share them in the comments below!

livre, livre recettes, recettes, Châtelaine, desserts, meilleurs desserts, manger, cuisiner

Plenty, recettes Plenty, Yotam Ottolenghi, livre recettes, livre Plenty, livre Yotam Ottolenghi, végétarien, recette végétarienne
