Ever since having my bag stolen in Barcelona last November, I had been walking around with the saddest looking wallet (a tiny old thing I’d been using for my international currency). Luckily, Herschel Supply came to the rescue earlier this summer with their stylish yet understated Avenue wallet and I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about such a usually mundane accessory. I mean, bags are exciting, but wallets? Well, Herschel just makes the perfect one. Here’s why I love it so much:
It’s black. As much as I am sometimes drawn to colourful accessories, I tire of them quickly and usually regret my purchase soon after. The style of this wallet is chic, simple and super classic.
It’s a quality product. I am so over buying cheap goods that fall apart after one season and need be tossed. A wallet is something you use pretty much every day so it gets a lot of wear and tear. It’s all about conscious consumerism and buying something that will last. This wallet is robust, from the quality fabric to the solid zipper and dark colour that won’t easily get dirty.
It’s not made of leather. I really avoid products made of animals as much as possible. I still buy leather shoes because I haven’t found any decent vegan options yet (although I did spot these amazing heels on ASOS thanks to fellow blogger Annie Jaffrey). Also, all Herschel Supply fabrics are water resistant (not waterproof) which is pretty cool.
The price ($59.99) is very reasonable. Yes, “reasonable” is a subjective thing when it comes to prices but in this case, I look at the price of a designer wallet vs the cost of a super cheap wallet and this one is somewhere in the middle which is just perfect for my budget. The price is also good considering the quality of the product and don’t forget that you get what you pay for so when you buy something at a low cost you often get low quality and then you eventually need to make another purchase because the el-cheapo product fell apart.
It’s a Canadian company. In the early 1900s, Peter Alexander Cormack and his wife made the journey from Wick, Scotland and settled in the small town of Herschel. Founded in 2009 by brothers Jamie and Lyndon Cormack, Herschel Supply adopted the name of the small town where three generations of their family grew up and the company is based in Vancouver, Canada.
Here’s a look at this beauty from all angles
Their signature liner is inspired by the engineering stripes found on work wear overalls and tells the story of heritage and quality. It’s available in red, blue and black across a variety of Herschel Supply products.
The only thing that would make Herschel Supply 100% perfect is if their production was based in Canada (most of it is in China). That said, my mantra is Progress over perfection and with all the qualities this wallet offers I think it’s a great choice.
If you want to check out the rest of their collections, Herschel Supply offers a huge selection of styles from backpacks to messenger bags, totes, pouches, laptop sleeves, wallets and more. They are currently offering free shipping on ground orders of $100 or more (shipping available to Canada, the United States, Mexico and United States territories listed here).
