I am officially addicted to Aesop. Never heard of this legendary beauty brand? I had my first experience with their products last year in Switzerland when trying some samples of their skin and hair care. When I posted a pic on Instagram, the girls at the LOULOU magazine offices (my ex colleagues) went nuts. Now we are talking about major fashionistas and beautitas that know pretty much every beauty brand in the world so when I saw them raving about Aesop, I knew I had found something special. I soon as I teared open my first sample and smelled the gentle blend of botanicals, I was in love. Then with one try, I WAS SOLD.
Unfortunately, because I was spending 2 months in Switzerland, my suitcase was already full (i.e. at the maximum weight limit) and I really couldn’t bring bottles and bottles of Aesop back to Canada with me. Luckily, the story doesn’t end there.
Fast forward almost a year later, I am wandering the isles of Globus, a fancy Swiss department store in Geneva and I am magically pulled to Aesop beauty counter. I was greeted by the most wonderful clerk that helped me find just what I needed. That is one thing that I really love about Aesop: their sales people possess a wealth of knowledge on each product and you can tell they are really passionate about the brand.
The two other reasons I find Aesop awesome are the quality of the ingredients (plant-based) and because they don’t test on animals. I ended up buying the Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm (click the link to purchase) and was VERY tempted to also purchase the Resurrection Hand Wash which smells like heaven thanks to its main ingredients (Mandarin Rind-Rosemary Leaf-Cedarwood Atlas). Alas, once again I was limited to what I could bring back with me in my luggage so I only purchased one product. Trust me, I’ll be doing some online shopping when I get home…
Started in Melbourne in 1987 with the simple goal of developing the highest quality products using the best botanical-based, scientifically-developed ingredients, Aesop has become one of Australia’s biggest beauty exports since the legendary Helena Rubinstein. The brand’s nourishing collections for skin, hair and body are rich in protective antioxidants to assist in repairing and protecting surface cells otherwise at risk due to internal and environmental stressors.
Aesop is always generous in giving out samples to allow customers to try their line. I’ll be stretching these out over the next few weeks until I get home and can order a cart load full of regular sized products!
