Today’s daily inspiration prescription is to love yourself. I felt that I needed to post this as self love and self acceptance has been a subject coming up for various people around me. I understand that some people might perceive this subject as cheesy but to me it’s one of the most important learnings in life.
Think loving yourself is selfish? How can we be there for others if we aren’t connected with ourselves? How can we give love to others if we don’t love ourselves? How can we offer kindness and compassion to those who need it if we don’t first provide it to ourselves?
Notice your thoughts and how you speak to yourself in your internal dialog. Do you keep doubting and criticizing yourself? Would you talk to a best friend the way you talk to yourself internally? If not, start changing that internal dialog one thought at a time.
Every time you have a harsh thought about yourself, try replacing it with the opposite or say “I could see love, compassion and kindness instead of this.” It’s not going to change everything overnight but it will start to create a shift. I used to have very low self confidence but with the years, lots of spiritual learnings and work, I have come so so far. You can too. Take one simple step one day at a time.
