Starting a blog and overcoming my fears

starting a blog

Putting yourself “out there” can be scary. I have been toying around with the idea of starting a blog for years. Yup. If you dig around a little on the internets, you will probably find a few sad attempts. Somehow, my heart wasn’t completely into it. I was afraid of what people would think.

I wondered why people should visit my blog when there are so many other great blogs out there. Well, recently, different circumstances made it quite obvious that I HAD to start my own blog. One of those events was my yoga teacher (and favourite person of 2013) Bram Levinson sharing a quote by Martha Graham. He said that this message was exactly what I needed at this stage of my life and boy was he right:

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it.

It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open…

Pretty awesome right? This totally resonated with me and so I knew I had to finally put on paper-or on computer I guess, all the inspiration that was boiling inside of me. So yes, those questions and doubts still float around in my mind but the difference now is that I have chosen to move passed that little voice of fear in my head and I am taking action. Hope you guys enjoy the ride as much as I will!
